About
As a boy, I spent my days in the muggy heat of the American South. Over time, I started to realize the contradictions in the world around me. There were people getting stopped and harassed by the police because of their skin color, people begging on the streets while others had plenty for doing nothing more than sitting in an office, and other people having to confine themselves to dead-end, labor-intensive, or menial jobs simply because they came from a family that couldn’t afford to send them to college. They will try to place blame on the individual, but is it not society’s job to take care of the worker that is so essential? You cannot ask for half of a worker’s pay and still expect them to prop themselves up, while outlawing the means for them to do so. What this is is a clever new form of slavery and exploitation, where they funnel you into a grinder and then blame it on your “choices.”
